I bought my little 4 door Honda Civic EX about 3 years ago. It only had 20-something thousand miles on it. I rarely drove it around in Seattle and I have only gotten into the car a handful of times in the 4 months I have been here in Virginia. In fact the most miles I put on the car was from my drive from Seattle to DC. I now have a whopping 34,600 miles on the car. It gets great mileage, its in fabulous shape, it will probably last forever.
IT MUST GO!!!!!
Seriously, I absolutely hate the Virginia DMV. I haven’t had so much trouble getting a car registered in my whole entire life. I give up. That’s all there is to it. Someone out there doesn’t think I need to own a car at the moment.
When the woman at the DMV gave me my next hurdle to jump over, I told her that that was good to know, but she had just made the decision to sell the car an absolute. I had been toying with the idea. But now, I just want it out of my hair.
So if anyone is interested in buying my car, or knows someone that might be, have them shoot me an email.
I decided on a quiet New Years this year. I had to be back at work on 12/30 and was only off on New Years Day, so I was back in Arlington. David decided to stop by on his way back from Florida and we were just going to take it easy and he promised to cook a southern NYDay meal. (He makes the BEST collards!) So I did the shopping before he got here and I was supposed to make a fabulous dinner for NYE but that didn’t happen – LOL We just ended up doing the cheese, crackers and wine while we rearranged furniture.
I know, I know. I always have David working on my apartment. You’d think it’d be done by now, but no. I’m a procrastinator and I only get motivated when David visits. Plus he LIKES to do it – so hush!
As an added bonus, Robert Cuzzone, who I haven’t seen in 6 or 7 years, flew in from Dallas for NYD as well. We had a fabulous meal cooked up by David and then headed down to the Theater room to watch North by Northwest (you know how I LOVE Cary Grant!) That was really all we did, eat, drink, got caught up and watched a movie. It was a GREAT day.
I had to work on Friday – YUCK. So the guys went out galavanting and then I met them at the mall when I got off a little early. Robert made my day by telling me I looked very cosmopolitan walking up to meet them. Who’d a thunk it?!? We headed over to a restaurant/bar near me called Frankie’s. Of course with 2 queens spending New Years with me, we’d end up at a gay bar – LOL. As always, I had a great time. We dished on all the guys in the bar and on ourselves and called it an early night.
Robert headed back to Dallas on Saturday morning before I even got up. Got to love the metro! David and I bebopped around for the day and then he headed out Sunday morning.
Although it doesn’t sound like much, we had a great time just catching up and goofing around. I had really missed Robert, and I’m glad he found me again on Facebook. And of course David will be back again in February to continue on with “Meredith’s Apartment“—the Saga continues with the arrival of The Rug!
When I was doing my million truffle weekend of massive candy-making, I don’t think I mentioned how the toffee and caramels came out. Weeeeeelllllll, the toffee took two tries.
I have now learned that you shouldn’t always trust your thermometer—if it looks done, its done. Otherwise you ruin a pot and will have to throw it out. Luckily I own a million pots and pans, as David can attest. Haha.
The pic to the left here shows what happens when you cook sugar too long. Just an FYI for those of you contemplating making toffee.
I figure I should be an expert packer by the end of this trip. I managed to pack enough for 4 days going from NYC to Seattle in one small overnight bag and a computer bag. Now I am working on a 7 night cruise, which includes 2 formal nights into 1 large suitcase and 1 overnight bag. I’m really getting good at it. Although I don’t think I will ever match Jan Ohye, my previous boss, who would pack 4 days worth of work clothes in a backpack to bring to Seattle every other week. She is my inspiration. LOL
With the holidays and everything I am way behind on my posts. I know, I’m sorry. I have a few started and hopefully I’ll get some of them up soon. But the next week is going to be really crazy, and then I’ll be on vacation. I’ll definitely get them finished on vacation, but I may not post them until I get back since I will be on a boat in the caribbean.
One of the things that I thought was fabulous about my new apartment is all the high end finishes and appliances. Granite countertops! Wow, never had those and tile in the kitchen and bathroom – which I have had before and really like.
I have found the one draw back to these beautiful hard surfaces – the count is 3 broken glasses, 1 chipped plate, and one smashed vase. ARGH! LOL
Maybe I’m just becoming way more clumsy as I get older….
